1.) Bedtime. Many of the Gucci watches come with a scratch-resistance of some sort, but its better to be safe than sorry. When you take your watch off, try to always place it back in its case. This will avoid any accidents of it getting knocked over or spilled on by it setting on the counter.

2.) Regular service trips. Although it's not near the same price, you want to look at your Gucci watch like you do your car. Regular service trips will help your watch maintain its high quality and avoid anything from breaking down on you in the future. If you can, try to take it to an actual Gucci store to maintain its authenticity. At the very least, make sure to take your watch to a qualified repair store that handles Gucci watches regularly.

3.) Cleaning the strap. If your Gucci watch has a stainless steel or metal strap, it is ok to clean it with soap and water to keep it clean. When drying it, gently rub the strap with a soft cloth. If you have a leather strap, it is ok to gently clean the strap with water, but you want to dry it as quickly as possible by gently rubbing it with a soft cloth. Any kinds of perspiration or water for an extended period of time can break down the leather.

4.) Removing scratches. If you are confident enough to remove any scratches from your Gucci watch, you can use a gentle cleaner and soft cloth to do so. Many people use Brasso or toothpaste to get the scratches off. However, if you are unconfident about removing the scratches, its better to be safe than sorry and take it into a repair store or watch store.

5.) Humidity and high temperatures. High temperatures and humidity are about the worst things for watches in general. The perspiration and hot temperatures can ruin the battery and dial itself, not to mention the strap. If you have a leather strap, it is vital that you wear it loose in the summer to avoid perspiration building up and ruining the leather.

6.) Winding the watch. If you have a mechanical watch, it is important that you are very careful when winding the watch. As long as you turn it slowly and not too many times you should have no problem. If you have an automatic watch, it is fine to turn the hands to get the watch running. Regardless, it has been proven that winding the watch around the same time of day can help extend the life of the watch.

Hello everyone. This is my first dotNetJunkie.com blog entry! My name is Jean-Philippe Couture, and I am a senior student at a local college. Born and raised in snowy land near Quebec City, Canada. I am studying software engineering, working almost exclusively with the Microsoft .NET platform for the last year or so. I am planning to get my Microsoft developer certifications (MCAD, MCSD) before the end of spring 2004.

Before picking up Microsoft .NET, I was an old-school *NIX-based developer that would stay as far away as possible from a Microsoft product. Oh, I once did a very small incursion into the early Java world, which left me with a bad taste in the mouth. I have to admit, that ever since I made the big switch to the Microsoft .NET development framework, I am more and more pleased with Microsoft products.

I am working with a small development team at school to complete our final project, which is going to be using almost every current aspects of what the framework as to offer. I say current, because we don't have access yet to any next-generation technology (ie: Whidbey, Avalon, Indigo, WinFS, Yukon, etc). We are on a somewhat tight schedule, but I am fairly confident in the tools we are using to get the job done on time, and have a great product release by May 2004.

I am looking forward joining this exciting community, as I have been an avid reader for the past 6 months. By the way, I want to thank Donny Mack for hooking me up with this blog. ;-)
